HOW TO PLAY

Gold Miner rules: drop the claw, beat the goal

Gold Miner is the classic arcade mining game, rebuilt for playing on a phone held upright. Your hook swings back and forth below the miner's winch. Tap anywhere on the mine to drop it at the right moment, and it grabs the first thing it touches. Gold nuggets and diamonds pay the most. Big rocks pay almost nothing and reel up so slowly that they can cost you the level.

Each level gives you sixty seconds to reach a money target, starting at $650 and climbing every level. Mystery sacks can hold cash, a strength boost or a free stick of dynamite, moles wander through the tunnels (some are carrying diamonds), and red powder barrels blow up everything around them. Stuck reeling in a boulder? Light a stick of dynamite to drop it and get your hook back.

Between levels the shop sells dynamite, a strength tonic for faster reeling, a lucky clover for better mystery sacks, a rock collector's book that triples the value of rocks, and diamond polish. Every purchase comes out of the money you have banked, so choose carefully. An online Gold Rush duel, where two miners race for the same gold, is coming soon.

CONTROLS

Gold Miner controls: touch, mouse, keyboard

touch

Tap anywhere on the mine, or the big Drop button, to drop the hook.
Tap Dynamite while hauling something slow to blast it and reel back empty.
Tap a shop item to buy it, then Next level (or Ready in a duel).
Pause and Sound sit at the bottom corners, within thumb reach; Sound opens separate music and effects switches and volume sliders.

Solo play is an endless climb: beat each money target before the clock runs out, spend your winnings in the shop, and see how deep you can go. Coming soon: the Gold Rush duel, which puts two miners on the same mine over three 45-second rounds, racing each other for the same nuggets, with whoever banks more money taking the win.
